About Us

The American Barbell Association (ABA) is dedicated to fostering a culture of health, strength, and wellness within the legal profession. We recognize that the demands of legal education and practice often lead to neglect of physical wellbeing, contributing to the profession's high rates of stress, burnout, and related health issues. The ABA stands as a counterbalance to these challenges, creating a community where law students can develop sustainable fitness habits alongside their legal education, building both physical and mental resilience that will serve them throughout their careers. The ABA fulfills this mission by providing accessible fitness opportunities for law students of all experience levels, organizing group training sessions and wellness events, sharing evidence-based information on training and nutrition, facilitating connections between fitness-minded legal professionals, and advocating for institutional policies that support wellness in legal education and practice. Through these efforts, we aim to inspire a generation of legal professionals who value their physical health as an essential component of professional success and personal fulfillment, ultimately transforming the culture of wellbeing within the legal profession.
