The California Law Students Association (CALSA) is an organization that supports and encourages students who are interested in pursuing their legal careers in California, connecting students with mentors who share their interests and California legal professionals.

The purpose of the organization is threefold:

1. To create a community of University of Chicago Law students who have connections to California or are interested in working in California post-graduation.
2. To establish professional relationships with alumni of the University of Chicago Law School working in the legal field in California and provide mentorship to our members.
3. To hold lunch talks and networking events where we invite attorneys from California to speak to our members about legal careers in California. Subjects may include navigating the legal market in California, preparing for OCI, applying to clerkships and public interest fellowships, and more.

Case Notes is the Law School's acapella group, offering a unique opportunity for law students to perform a vast range of repertoire, from jazz standards to pop classics.

Comprising up to 20 talented singers with a variety of musical backgrounds and experience levels, the group rehearses every week for two hours and participates in events such as the CLF auction and the LSA Valentine's Day Sale, as well as hosting the Spring Talent Show, open to all members of the law school community, and an end-of-year concert, performed by the group only. Case Notes further participates in LSSO fundraising and general legal education—first, through Valentine's Day singing grams in February to raise money for student organizations and law school social events, and second, through partnerships with other student groups to host guest speakers practicing at the intersection of law and the arts.

Overall, Case Notes gives law students an opportunity to bond with fellow singers and music lovers, to continue or begin singing in law school, and to contribute to the greater UChicago Law community. Auditions will be held within the first three weeks of each fall quarter and are open to all students. Depending on the needs of the group, additional auditions may take place.
