The California Law Students Association (CALSA) is an organization that supports and encourages students who are interested in pursuing their legal careers in California, connecting students with mentors who share their interests and California legal professionals.

The purpose of the organization is threefold:

1. To create a community of University of Chicago Law students who have connections to California or are interested in working in California post-graduation.
2. To establish professional relationships with alumni of the University of Chicago Law School working in the legal field in California and provide mentorship to our members.
3. To hold lunch talks and networking events where we invite attorneys from California to speak to our members about legal careers in California. Subjects may include navigating the legal market in California, preparing for OCI, applying to clerkships and public interest fellowships, and more.

Case Notes is the Law School's acapella group, offering a unique opportunity for law students to perform a vast range of repertoire, from jazz standards to pop classics.

Comprising up to 20 talented singers with a variety of musical backgrounds and experience levels, the group rehearses every week for two hours and participates in events such as the CLF auction and the LSA Valentine's Day Sale, as well as hosting the Spring Talent Show, open to all members of the law school community, and an end-of-year concert, performed by the group only. Case Notes further participates in LSSO fundraising and general legal education—first, through Valentine's Day singing grams in February to raise money for student organizations and law school social events, and second, through partnerships with other student groups to host guest speakers practicing at the intersection of law and the arts.

Overall, Case Notes gives law students an opportunity to bond with fellow singers and music lovers, to continue or begin singing in law school, and to contribute to the greater UChicago Law community. Auditions will be held within the first three weeks of each fall quarter and are open to all students. Depending on the needs of the group, additional auditions may take place.

The Environmental Law Society (ELS) is a group of students interested in environmental law and policy, energy law, natural resource law, environmental justice, and any related fields. We host a number of speakers to discuss these topics throughout the year. Professors, scientists, litigators (in large firms, small firms, and nonprofits), organizers, and other environmental advocates have all been ELS speakers. We also organize a variety of activities to engage students in environmental-related pursuits, such as visiting the farmer's market, decreasing carbon footprints, and enjoying the environment we work to conserve.

International Law Society (ILS) exposes the University of Chicago's students to the many facets of public and private international law and cross-border transactions. We seek to amplify the voices of Palestinian activists resisting occupation, dispossession, and colonization; to combat anti-Palestinian narratives and the silencing of pro-Palestine viewpoints in American politics and academia; to strengthen the intersectional bonds between the Palestinian struggle and other racial & social justice movements; and to highlight Palestinian arts and culture, particularly in forums that are accessible to students in UChicago.

For 75 years, the National Lawyers Guild has aimed to represent progressive political movements and to protect human rights over property rights in the pursuit of social justice. The University of Chicago Chapter strives to inform and advocate for considerations of social and economic justice in the study of law, hopes to involve young lawyers in their professional and social duty to their community, and pushes for laws that protect the economic and social welfare of the people. The National Lawyers Guild accomplishes these goals both by bringing outside voices into the Law School, as well as by training and serving as Legal Observers to curtail potential abuses of state power.

The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a group of conservatives and libertarians interested in the current state of the legal order. It is founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be. The Society seeks both to promote an awareness of these principles and to further their application through its activities.

This entails reordering priorities within the legal system to place a premium on individual liberty, traditional values, and the rule of law. It also requires restoring the recognition of the importance of these norms among lawyers, judges, law students and professors. In working to achieve these goals, the Society has created a conservative and libertarian intellectual network that extends to all levels of the legal community.

The purpose of this organization shall be fourfold. First, to create a community for those interested in international arbitration. Second, to assist them with their professional development and employment searches by providing networking opportunities, educational opportunities, and opportunities to learn from experienced professionals in this field through lunch talks and speakers. This organization will connect students with UChicago Law alumni practicing in the international arbitration area. Third, to prepare for the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition in the spring. This organization will host events introducing the Vis Moot competition, providing training and organizing mock rounds for the UChicago Vis Moot team. Fourth, to create synergy between UChicago Law and the Chicago International Arbitration Center, which is in the process of development and will be launched in 2023, by providing UChicago Law students with opportunities to learn and contribute to the work they are undertaking.

The Supreme Court and Appellate Society (SCAS) provides a forum for students to discuss, debate, and discover evolving trends in the law of the nation's various circuit courts and of its Supreme Court. By exposing students to nascent legal developments, SCAS aims to bolster student familiarity with and interest in the theory and practice of appellate law.
